The simplest way is get back to basics,

1. Eat unprocessed, unrefined, whole foods.

One of the best ways to maintain gut health  involves cutting out sugar and refined carbs and increasing gut supporting fiber.

2- Make 75% of your plate vegetables and plant based foods

Your gut will love these high fiber plant food. Foods like pomegranate, cranberry, blueberries and colorful plants feed good gut bacteria.

3- Eat good fats

Fats like omega 3 fats such as extra virgin olive oil will help with decreasing inflammation, giving healthy gut bacteria a chance to flourish.

4- Add fiber-rich foods

Nuts, seeds and a special fiber called glucomannan provide prebiotics and feed our healthy bacteria.

5- Get more sleep and reduce stress.

Lack of sleep and chronic stress also contribute to gut imbalance.  In fact your gut flora listens to and becomes influences by your thoughts and feelings. Make sure you get 7 to 8 hours of quality sleep and practice your favorite stress reduction activity daily, this can be belly breathing, meditation, therapy, yoga or long walks, whatever you like to do to relax.

6- Prioritize exercise

One study showed that exercise alone, without dietary intervention, led to an increase in beneficial butyrate-producing bacteria.

Butyrate is a fatty acid which can prevent cancer, speed up your metabolism and reduce inflammation.
